Turquoise Ankle Strap Heels

I’ve never owned a pair of shoes from Adrienne Vittadini, but I snagged this “Neni” pump (available in 5 colors) from DSW’s clearance section for a steal! I was stoked to find out DSW sometimes does sales where they take an additional % off of the already twice reduced clearance prices. I have a feeling I’ll be going back when they offer a sale like that again!

I used to avoid ankle strap heels as my ankles are – let’s just say sturdy – and I’d always heard that they visually shorten the leg. While that may be true, I LOVE this pair! Isn’t the scallop detail adorable?

Luckily the height of these heels is manageable. I just can’t wear anything higher than 3.5-3.75 inches for very long. Comfort is too important to me. And hobbling around in pain or because you feel like you’re wearing stilts is just not a good look. Not to mention it makes it hard to feel confident. Wearing clothes confidently is imperative for looking stylish!

My dress is older and no longer available, but have you checked out the Eva Mendes Collection from New York & Company? There are some seriously cute pieces! And they are quite affordable. This blouse and matching skirt caught my eye. I’ve never really bought matching separates, but I can see how it would allow for tons of styling options.

I’m not usually one to go for boldly patterned pants, but how cute is this palazzo pant? This maxi skirt reminds me of a style of skirt Free People sells – at a much lower price point. And I wouldn’t mind adding this dress and this dress to my closet! Not to mention the cute accessories. Random side note, but doesn’t Eva look crazy similar to Sophia Loren?

This jacket is also an older find from Nordstrom Rack (if you have the patience, scouring the racks in-store really pays off! But you can find great stuff online too), so it’s not currently available. Here (1, 2, 3, 4) are a few faux leather jackets that I really like. The bonus is that many of them are discounted due to the changing weather – plus Nordies always offers free shipping!

I’m obviously not a famous blogger, so a professional photog is out of the question. Thank goodness my husband is ah-mazing and takes my pics for me. He used to dread our shoots, but now he’s started giving me notes on poses and whatnot, experimenting with different angles, and even freely offering his thoughts on which pics I should use for this blog. Isn’t he the best?!

Until next time my friends – be well!

Ladylike – with an Edge

Hello! I hope you’re having a fabulous day!

For those of you who haven’t read my earlier posts, I am in the midst of a 6 month no shopping challenge (giftcards excluded), which is actually super hard for me, but I’m staying strong! I was killing some time on Friday at Macy’s (dangerous) while I got a necklace clasp repaired and apparently I was there at a great time as a sale had just started.

I only found a couple of things that I liked and – if you can believe it – both items were fully paid for my by gift card! Woo hoo! This top is one of my (guilt-free) buys. Since peplum tops accentuate the waist by flaring out at the hips it’s very flattering. Plus it’s quite comfortable and stretchy!

I just stumbled upon it, but like it a lot. The necklace is detachable so it’s 2 outfits in 1! Gotta love that functionality! I’ve never bought anything from Thalia Sodi before, but she’s on my radar now. I felt like such a lady in this outfit, but with a hint of an edge. I could see this working really well for work or a night out.

Speaking of stretchy – I paired it with my go-to pencil skirt by Leith. I love that there are no buttons or zippers. It’s insanely comfy! It’s no longer available at Nordies, but here’s a similar option by the same brand in another color and here’s a shorter version.

If you haven’t heard of Macy’s Thanks for Sharing Program here are the deets: Each year for the last couple of years Macy’s has offered a program where you can get 10% back on any purchases you make using your Macy’s card during the holiday season. For each program enrollment, Macy’s will make a $10 donation to charity, up to a total of $15 million. Pretty cool!

There’s a $25 enrollment fee, but if you’re planning on buying some gifts from Macy’s you’ll likely get your money back and then some. At least I always have. I got $56 back this month, based on my purchases from September-December 2016! Which I spent within a week lol

I felt like my Sam Edelman pumps were a good complement to this outfit as it’s important to lengthen one’s legs as much as possible when wearing a midi skirt. Which means either skyscraper heels (which are not for me, I am all about comfort) or a nude heel.

I’ve wanted a peplum top for a while now as they are so darn cute and flattering. TIP: I keep a running list of items I want to eventually buy to round out my wardrobe in the list app on my phone. It works out really well! If you’re anything like me and your mind goes blank the second you walk into a store it can be a huge help in avoiding random impulse buys.

I loved how this top peeked out from the bottom of my jacket (old, similar here (on sale!) and here)!

I’ve enjoyed using my golf umbrella from Walmart. It’s only $14 and so big it that it keeps me nice and dry even on the rainiest days 🙂 I love the polka dots, but they have a bunch of different options.

I love an all black look. What about you?

Leith Midi Sweater Dress

Who says you can’t wear black with navy? I wore this outfit on Saturday and I felt so comfortable and chic all day long! Can you beat that mix? I think not. I was a little unsure about this dress when I bought it online last year (size S, it runs big, I’m usually a M in Leith – thanks reviewers!!), but it was a great purchase. I’ve worn it quite a bit already and it it’s actually pretty darn flattering. The ribbing helps disguise any post-lunch “food babies.”

My new Vince Camuto Ayla Satchel makes me feel so ladylike and I got an incredible deal! It’s the perfect mix of boho and classic – love the braid detail – and the quality is great! I think this one will last a very long time. I’m new to Vince Camuto purses, but I am definitely a fan!

These Ivanka Trump booties (currently 40% off!) were such a good buy – not only do I wear them constantly, but they are super easy to walk in all day long. No joke! A 3″ heel is usually my max and these are 3″, but somehow they feel like a lower heel. I wanted a bootie that was a little less casual than my Sam Edelman booties and these pointed toe babies fit the bill perfectly. I even got a “nice shoes” shout out from some guy driving by. Money well spent indeed lol!

It was a pretty cold day by San Diego standards so I was stoked to be able to layer. Layering is a great way to add visual interest to an outfit!

I bought this BNCI by Blanc Noir faux leather jacket a few years back from Nordstrom Rack and I find myself wearing it over and over. I always get compliments and it’s a little more substantial than your typical faux leather jacket, which is nice! I can’t really afford real leather so this is a great compromise! Pus it adds a little “edge” to whatever I pair it with.

Thanks for stopping by!
