Leith Tank Dress

This dress has been on my wish list for soo long! I’m so glad I finally got it, even at full price. Leith’s prices are already very affordable so their pieces don’t always go on sale (which is when I normally pull the trigger). Oh wellsies, still worth it!

I have -and love – 4 other pieces from the brand and I’m sure that number will continue to grow. Check out this stunning satin maxi and this velour slip dress from Leith that I spotted on the Nordstrom Rack site.

What steals! I’ve made a commitment to myself to stop buying formal stuff until I have a specific occasion for it, otherwise I would so buy that satin maxi. Isn’t it gorg?? FYI this brand’s clothes tend to run a little large so I’m wearing a M.

You can never have too many good basics. This dress doesn’t require a strapless bra (hallelujah!) and it’s insanely comfortable, doesn’t wrinkle, and it’s very flattering/forgiving. Yes please!

Since it’s been such a crazy warm winter – even by San Diego’s standards – I haven’t been able to do much layering with this dress, but I liked how it looked with my lace kimono,  more options here.

Tip: Kimonos can be super flattering and sexy or they can be completely unflattering. The difference is and how it hangs on your body.

You want to avoid pulling it over your bust as this creates an overall round shape. My go to is to just let it hang right from the armpit. Sounds so sexy, right?

I really like how the curved hem of the dress adds to the flattering-factor of this dress and gives just a bit more coverage. Although I’d still suggest some bloomers or boyshorts underneath to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions. Trust me on this one 😉

I really had no idea how much I’d wear these heels when I first got them, but man have they become a staple for me. This has just reinforced my belief that you MUST try shoes on.

I’ve had more occasions than I’d like to admit where I bought some pretty shoes online, only to be vastly disappointed when they didn’t fit quite right or were just too painful to be a realistic option. Boo!

Full disclose: these push that line (of comfort) but they’re sooo good!

See ya later party people!

Clutches All Day

In the past I always relegated clutches to the “evening bag” category.  But as I get more playful with fashion I am realizing that clutches are great at any time of day!

I got this clutch from Nastygal and it quickly sold out – note: Nastygal seems to be perpetually offering 50% off of everything on their site (using code GET50) – however, I thought I’d offer up some of my suggestions for affordable clutches. My picks are at the bottom of this pot.

As soon as I saw the pinky/gold snakeskin of this clutch I knew I needed it in my life. I looove the pop of color and the box shape. It’s also super cool that it came with a shoulder strap ’cause  sometimes we just need to go hands free! I suppose if there’s any con it’s that the metal shows fingerprints. But in my mind that’s no big deal.

Since I tend to err on the matchy-matchy side, I had to pair this bag with my fav sweater (currently about half price!). I am obsessed with anything peachy/salmony/pink. With a bold colored sweater and an attention grabbing clutch I felt it was best to go pretty simple with the rest of my look.

My jeans are pretty old, but I think this pair (use code COUNTDOWN to get 20% off thru 12/19) is just as cute! I really dig the minimal distressing. This pair is also so stylish (also 20% off with code GIFTNOW) and this one is a steal for under $30.

I still reach for this pair of block heeled pumps all the time. The pointed toe and nude color are soo good for lengthening the legs, while also being comfortable. Always important! There’s a reason they have such great reviews 😉

While smaller handbags like clutches are great anytime, they’re especially well suited for this time of year. All the parties and events just beg for a handbag that pops – and holds just enough.

90’s Style Updated

To me nothing says 90’s fashion more than a slip dress, combat boots, and a moto jacket so when I put on this outfit I flashed right back to the days of Daria, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Clueless. How I love/d all three of those!

Sadly this dress from Nasty Gal is selling out quickly and there are only a couple sizes left (the size 10 fit me great, FYI). However, it’s a great, much less expensive option if you like the style of the “Sydney” dress from Sanctuary. They both have a subtle 90’s vibe. This is another affordable option. See my recent post on the white version of the Sydney dress here.

You could go all out with combat boots and a flannel around your waist or give it a bit of 2017 update like I did. I guess I didn’t pay attention to the description as I expected it to be the kind of polyester that doesn’t stretch, but it’s quite stretchy. I have actually worn it more as a nightgown than a dress lately. It’s so comfy!

I don’t know how long they plan to offer it, but they are offering 50% off of all orders on Nastygal.com. Score! One thing to note – my order shipped from the UK. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time and it was kind of fun to have something ship from another country, but it was a little unexpected.

I haven’t ordered anything from them in a few years, but last time it shipped from within the US. I guess they’ve made some changes because I noticed that the sizing on the tag is in UK sizing, even though the sizes listed online are the US equivalent.

I am so loving this cooler weather! I’ve really been looking forward to wearing my jackets and sweaters. While it’s not all that cold during the day (except today – it’s raining!) it is starting to feel like fall and I can usually add a layer in the evenings.

So of course I had to break out my oxblood suede jacket! One of the best things about buying classic pieces is that you don’t have to “retire” them after 1 or 2 years. This almost red/almost brown color is perfect for fall and goes with just about anything.

While this exact jacket is no longer available, I spotted this faux leather jacket at Express and I can see it being perfect for fall. It has 10 5 star reviews for a reason! I also think this open front moto jacket is super cool. The sizes are limited in the oxblood color, but there are some other colors to choose from.

I have gotten so much wear out of these booties, they are surprisingly comfortable for the height! Politics aside, Ivanka Trump does have some pretty cute shoes in her line.

My awesome Vince Camuto “Ayla” Satchel is still available – and it’s on sale! I highly recommend it. I’ve had it for close to a year now and it still looks pristine. Satchels (with a shoulder strap) have become my favorite style of bag due to their versatility. Is it just me or do some purses fall right off your shoulder too? Grr.

These pics were taken right before the hubs and I went out for dinner and I’d forgotten what a beautiful time of day “golden hour” is. It’s hard to take a bad shot with such pretty and soft lighting.

Although reviewing these pics really reminded me that I need to smile in my photos. You have probably heard of resting bitch face, but I’m afflicted by it’s cousin – resting sad face. If I’m just chillin’ somewhere, in my own little world I often get comments like, “what’s wrong?” And “are you ok?” Lol

What are you most excited to wear now that it’s officially fall?

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you come back soon!

Can’t Get Enough Pink

I’ve always resisted what people thought I should like. For example, as a kid I was “supposed” to like pink because I was a girl. I felt like I had to  dislike it just to prove them wrong. Now I’m mature enough to embrace the fact that I LOVE PINK. It makes me happy and that’s all that’s really important.

More and more I’m living life by feeling my way through. If it feels good, I do it. If not, I (usually) try something else. It may seem overly simple, but I argue that we make life way more complicated than it has to be. Of course, there is something to be said for life’s engaging dramas and doing things we don’t like since it helps us clarify what we do like. So this is just my motto, I’m certainly not saying it’s right for everyone. But man has it enriched my life.

Now that I’ve gotten out my deep thought for the day, on to my outfit! This bag was such a nice surprise. I’d never heard of Chic Wishlist so when I got an offer to snag this bag at a very steep discount I hesitated but eventually pulled the trigger. I’ve wanted a pink or blush bag for so long, but for some reason I never found one that I thought was purchase-worthy.

I buy almost everything online these days, but I rely heavily on past experience with a brand and online reviews. This brand provided neither so I was a little unsure what the bag would actually be like when it got to me.

It’s not leather, rather it’s listed as being primarily “silica gel” and I didn’t really know what that meant. It also doesn’t have a lining and it’s pretty darn expensive. Normally I’d pass on it for those reasons, but this bag actually rocks!

It feels and looks sumptuous and I don’t miss the lining one bit. It’s a great size and it just looks classy to me. If you balk at the price tag I totally understand. Here’s a code to get a discount of 70%: SaveOnWishList. Seems a lot more reasonable now, eh?

This brand offers some really fun and fashion forward items. Just keep in mind that everything ships from China, so the delivery can take a little while. I’m seriously eyeing their faux fur jackets. I’d love to hear if you’ve ever tried this brand yourself in the comments!

I considered a lot of different pairings for this bag, but I ultimately went with my fabulous pink trench and I love the result. Is it just me or does this ensemble look expensive? I did a post on this chic trench in the past here and I still love it!

The reviewers are right, it’s not a typical trench coat in that it’s not rain resistant and it is lightweight, so it might be more appropriate to call it a “topper.” It’s actually perfect for the Socal weather and while the fabric does wrinkle easily, the wrinkles also fall out pretty easily when it hangs. The faux leather details are an awesome touch and it’s on sale!

I cheated a little with this look as it was pretty hot when we shot these pics, but I’m already feeling the fall vibes. So many people on social media are lamenting the end of summer and meanwhile I’m like when the heck is it going to feel like fall around here?! I can’t wait to pull out my boots. Lol, the grass is always greener eh?

This white dress is an old purchase from Nasty Gal, but I found a very similar dress at NordstromRack for under $45 (there are more colors available too)! Isn’t the scalloping at the bust adorable? Every girl needs at least one fit and flare dress in her closet!

With all the pink in this outfit I thought a nude shoe would be best and my Sam Edelmans fit the bill perfectly. My particular style is sold out, but the “Hazel” is a cult favorite and very similar. I was just at DSW yesterday and I am always impressed by how many great shoes they have from this brand. Why would anyone ever pay full price?

My hubby is so wonderful to be willing to be my part time photographer. The only downside is that he’s not quite as detail oriented as I am. Case in point – all the pics we got with the bag flipped the wrong way, haha! Oh well. I’m just happy he’s so supportive. Thank you babe!!

What’s your favorite color to wear?

Have a wonderful day and stay true to you! Muah! Kate

Midi T-Shirt Dress

Even though I have tons of dresses (I’m not gonna lie, I have a dress obsession), I still like to feel like my clothes are versatile. While the material of this dress is pretty thin and the overall vibe is pretty casual, I wanted to see if I could make it a bit fancier by adding some dressier accessories. I’m pretty happy with the result!

This clutch is an old buy from Loft and no longer available, but here’s a similar option that’s 50% off and available in 4 colors! This one is also really nice and likely higher quality (also on sale!). The collar necklace is also old, but here’s a look-a-like option that’s on sale. And here’s the gold plated (i.e. pricey) dup.

This dress is perfect for the summer months; it’s very lightweight, but not sheer, and it dries super fast. The material has an almost faux suede-like quality to it – it feels really nice to the touch.

Forever 21 is so dangerous! The prices can’t be beat of course, but have you seen their selection of summer dresses lately? I had to force myself to close my browser before I bought the whole lot. In case you’re in the market here are the ones that I would buy, if I could: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

A midi dress can sometimes be hard to pull off, especially when one is “vertically challenged,” but I do think that they can work for everyone. The key is to hem it if needed so it doesn’t go lower than mid calf and wear some shoes that offer a little extra height. Bonus leg lengthening points if the shoe is nude like these block heel pumps.

FYI In case you’re wondering what that line across my bust is I wore this dress to the dentist’s office before snapping these pics and I didn’t notice it until I started writing this post. Whoops! I’m not gonna say it’s slobber, but I won’t say it’s not either. Haha, it could have just been a mark from my crossbody bag too 😉

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fab day!
