Hey party people! How you doin’?
2020 just gets crazier and crazier. So I’ve decided to just do my best, help others when I can, and have as much fun as possible during this strange transitional time. I do believe we’re headed into something better, but as with all change, what’s outdated and dysfunctional needs to collapse before the new can take shape. A big part of letting loose has been playing with fashion. I feel like I’ve finally gotten to the point where I will wear what I want, no matter what anyone else thinks. Hallelujah! Seriously, what a relief. It took me almost 40 years to get to this point and I’m so glad I’m finally here.
In the past I would not wear certain things out of the house, even though I really wanted to, for fear that I might look silly – which is kind of amusing now that I think about it because silly is one of the main adjectives I would use to describe myself. So a bunch of beautiful pieces would just languish in my closet. What a shame! Maybe it’s the fact that this year has been such a sh$t show – I don’t really know for sure what happened. But I don’t particularly care about the why, I am just glad I can be more myself with less hesitation.
I actually think that’s what life is all about, but I won’t bore you with my deep thoughts today (haha). Instead let’s talk about this wanna be JLo look! I may not dress up for Halloween, but that’s because I get to dress up every day – well, everyday I actually get dressed and leave the house anyway. Sometimes I want to feel girly and sweet, sometimes I am all about the “classy lady” look, and other times I want to feel like a badass; it can vary quite a bit. The freedom to be who I want to be/feel the way I want to feel on any particular day is pretty awesome.
This dress (sadly already out of stock, similar options here and here) gave me some major Jennifer Lopez vibes, likely because of the accessories/styling (hexagon hoop earrings and gold aviators). So I went with it. But I’ve actually gotten a lot of use out of this guy because it can go with so many of my moods. It’s just as cute with boho accessories, it’s uber comfy, and it’s oh-so-nice for hot summer days. I reached for it so often this year that I started to wonder if I was overdoing it. Luckily I have a lot of great dresses to mix things up 😉
I only realized I have a passion for tiered dresses recently. Probably because it’s such a classic style. I do not care for the idea that something I buy will only be “in style” for a season or two. Here is some proof from this very blog (here, here, here, here, and here). And here are some awesome options (1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5) if you are into the look as well.
I still LOVE my fitness watch; even though I scratched the face pretty badly through my general clumsiness it still looks and works great overall. The design is so smart (ha, pun intended) – it’s so funny when people ask me why I keep looking at my watch and taking about my steps. A major upgrade from the first generation Fitbits. It’s truly amazing how quickly technology improves these days. It’s pretty exciting to think of what’s to come…
What are you doing to stay sane in the year of COVID? Stay strong my friends, this too shall pass.
