Hello and happy 2021!
I have been living in sweater dresses lately. I actually have another sweater dress from Amazon that I recently received as a gift from my dear sister, which I will be posting about soon, but since this dress is almost sold out I figured I’d start with this one. Plus we took these pics in October and the pics have been languishing on my laptop far too long! I’m feeling motivated today so it might end up being a double blog post day. Strike while the iron’s hot, right?
I got this little beauty in “denim” because that was the only color offered at the time, but I saw they now have it available in a different color of blue, pink, and cream. I’m tempted to buy another color because it feels like you’re wearing a cozy blanket – and who doesn’t like that? But thankfully there are only smalls left in each color (for now, they may restock) and I bought mine in a large so I can’t. Probably a good thing. There are SO many great sweater dresses out there right now. I have this one in my Amazon cart and it’s only 20 bucks so you might be seeing it here soon 😉
Keep in mind this dress is very oversized and it stretches a bit with time so I could have probably gotten away with a medium (and I am NOT a medium these days). F21 clothing tends to run small as it’s more juniors sizing so I was not sure if a large would even work for me at first. But the reviews all mentioned how crazy oversized this dress is – and they were right. So go ahead and grab one of those smalls if you are into this dress and usually wear a medium or large. FYI I think this dress could easily work for a more “mature” woman with a pair of leggings. It really is the perfect curl up on the couch dress.
I really like to wear my sweater dresses with OTK boots because they keep you warm and the skinniness of the boots pairs nicely with an oversized dress. I have a black pair from Blondo (old, similar here) that are waterproof, which is genius because I usually want to wear them in the rain, and I wear them so much that I wanted a brown pair as well. But I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on them. So, not too long ago, as I was doing my favorite day-off morning routine of laying in bed and exploring the web, I stumbled upon Fashion Nova, which seems to be similar to a Forever 21 type store (fast fashion).
These boots seem to fit both thin ladies and curvy gals – but they end up looking much more slouchy on the thin legged – and they are only $45 at full price. But FN seems to always be having sales so I got them for about $20 and you can get them today for $32 plus shipping. A pretty good deal, even if they don’t hold up all that long. The heel is awesome; just enough height to flatter, but chunky so they are still comfortable.
One of the downsides of having such a full closet (first world problems!) is that sometimes I forget about certain pieces, like this crossbody purse. I wore it on repeat for a long time, but then it got squeezed out by other bags for a while. It is pricey, but I think it can be a god investment. It should last a loooong time because it is high quality and it still looks brand new. Plus, I was able to find it for a steal a few years back. It often goes on sale around big holidays and you can also buy gently used ones. I’ve had some faux leather purses completely fall apart or just look really sad after a few years, so I prefer to stick with the real deal.
As you may have noticed from these pics I experimented with red hair late last year and it was fun, but it’s so true that red fades super fast. Especially when you have fine hair like I do and workout pretty much everyday, which requires hair washing at least every other day. Dry shampoo can only do so much, after all. So when my hair faded to auburn and my roots got out of hand I went and bought myself some more dark brown hair dye. I do think this shampoo (seems to be sold out most places, but I can still find it at my local TJMaxx) helped extend the color though, I highly recommend it, along with pretty much all of their products. I still use this volumizer on my hair each time after I wash my hair. Bodylicious!
It’s fun to experiment, but the upkeep is just too much for me to keep doing red. I’m glad I gave it a go though, because it was the first time I’d ever done red and I’ve tried literally every other hair color out there (other than non-natural colors like pink, etc.). The hubs had been requesting it and I find pretty adorable that he even cares. I liked the auburn stage so I may go back to that at some point, we shall see…
See ya next time…XO, Kate

you look beautiful, from your hair down to the boots!
I LOVE those brown suede boots! You are made for the maxi-dresses—or should I say they’re made for you?
Aw, thank you! That’s very sweet 💕
