I’ve been itching to post about this insanely soft and wonderful coat – also available here in the color I’m wearing for a while now and I finally got the opportunity! It checks all the boxes…it’s seriously the softest thing I’ve ever worn, effortlessly chic, a tad edgy (it looks great paired with girly dresses), goes with everything, the perfect level of warmth for colder SoCal days – and it’s even called the “Kate.” It was obviously meant to be a part of my wardrobe!
Good news – if you’re interested in buying this gem for yourself, you can get it for the cheapest possible price right now in these colors: “sky” (grey/blue), peach (sooo good!), and terracotta 🙂
I’d say it runs true to size, but keep in mind it’s meant to be oversized. If you size down it may look more fitted, but the length might be too short in the body and the arms – at least for someone close to my height (5’7). If you’re on the petite size however that could work to your advantage.
Since it’s now May this likely one of my last opportunities to wear my coats so I’m taking full advantage! I’ve been wearing this baby the second it cools off at night or in the morning if I’m going somewhere. When something is this good you find reasons to wear it!
While it’s not as “flattering” as a coat that cinches at the waist, it’s still fabulous because it’s just so darn cool. It screams confidence; like it’s saying “I’d look good in anything.”
If you’re worried about it making you look larger it also helps to pair it with a skirt that shows some skin or with very skinny bottoms. Very helpful in balancing the boxy shape of the coat. Show off that shape where you can girl!
I’ve gotten hooked on Quora lately and I’ve been asked so many interesting questions that it’s made me think about some things in new ways. For example, one question that someone asked me was around what your clothes say about you. If you’re interested, see my answer here.
Clothes make such a big difference in my mood that it’s hard for me to understand people who say fashion is superficial and what you wear doesn’t matter all that much. I couldn’t disagree more! I love that when I need a little boost to my self-esteem I can grab certain things in my closet and boom – I’m feeling myself just that little bit more.
How awesome is it that I can create a different “look” everyday if I feel like it and that I can express myself through what I choose to wear? Plus – I’m not going to lie – it is fun to have others tell you how fabulous something you’re wearing is or how great you look in an item. Ego boost! Haha.
I used to almost feel apologetic for being so into clothes, but I’ve realized that all of those scenarios I mentioned are empowering – and who doesn’t want to feel powerful?!
So I say we re-brand being interested in fashion or invested in our personal style. Instead of being a “frivolous fashionista,” I see myself as creatively expressing who I am while adding beauty to the world. Puts quite a different spin on it, no? What are your thoughts on this topic?
Thank you so much as always for stopping by!!
XO, Kate
