Hi again! 😎 As you’ve likely noticed I am all about midi dresses so when Brooke from www.Pumpsandpushups.com posted this dress it really caught my attention – even though I’m 5’7 and she’s not even 5 feet (check her out – she offers proof that shorter ladies can still rock midis!). I could tell right away it would be a great work dress, but I’d never ordered from J. Crew’s factory store so I was a bit hesitant. Luckily it was free shipping and on sale so I gave it a try and I’m so glad I did! It’s of higher quality than I would have expected and the fabric doesn’t wrinkle so that’s a big bonus in my book, plus I’m a sucker for classic color combos.
It’s definitely one of those items that looks better in person than on the store’s website. It’s a bit big on me in an XL (I can put it on and take it off without using the zipper), but as one reviewer mentioned I could not really have comfortably done a large with my substantial bosom and larger arms. So a belt it is! I do not currently work in an office environment and I have not for over 10 years now, but I like knowing that I won’t have to scramble to find appropriate clothes if/when I do physically convene with my coworkers. I’ve actually been on camera for work more lately via WebEx and Zoom and yet I have not done anything beyond adding a little dry shampoo to my hair, so maybe I should get dressed up a bit for the next one…
However I did wear it on Friday to take the National Board of Heath and Wellness Coaching exam (after putting it off for 5 years!) and I’m happy to report I was the most professional one I saw at the testing site lol. I’ll never deprioritize comfort, but I’ve worn pretty much only sweats and stretch clothes for too long – it felt really good to look like a professional lady for a day. Since it was almost a 5 hour test (not a typo!) it was a great choice for many reasons. I’ve styled it a couple ways for you all as I do think it can go well beyond the work arena. I quite like it with black booties.
