Hello my friends!
As usual I’m a little behind on posting these pics, but the good news is this dress is still in stock (and oh-so-good!) and I have a bunch of other recent purchases to share with y’all – scroll to the bottom for those.
But first things first…this midi dress was a birthday gift from my sister. I put it on my Amazon wish list because I really do not need any more dresses in my already stuffed closet, but when I saw it online I wanted it so bad! I have a similar midi dress in blue from Leith/Nordstrom that’s really beautiful, but it’s pretty form fitting and these days the thought of wearing shape wear or even sucking in that belly is just not appealing to me. This dress is much more relaxed and thus much more flattering.
I actually chose to wear it backward, which is something I’ve been known to do (previous example here – the boobylicious one). I guess it’s the creative rebel in me. As you probably know by now I love versatility so when something can be worn backward I’ll usually try it out, just to see how it looks. I’ve found H&M dresses are often cut higher in the front than the back so I actually wear the few H&M dresses I own backward most of the time because it just looks more flattering on me (bigger chests and higher necklines are usually not a great combo). It sounds weird I know, but all it takes is a a careful removal of the tag and voila, you have yourself some options!
midi dress I hat I booties I similar belt
I love clothes that feel like jammies so here’s an even more pj-like styling option. Just add a belt over the scarf (it’s crazy soft!) if you want to show off that waist and look slimmer):
And now onto some other recent home decor finds that I’ve been loving:
I’ve had the same Hemnes bedroom set for a long time now and I’m a big fan because it’s the only mostly solid wood furniture I could find there. But having had it for more than a decade at this point, I’ve been considering upgrading. We may be moving this year due to Leo accepting a new job in central/northern California so instead of buying a whole new set now we figured we’ll just get by with what we have and then dump it (none of it is really sellable or even denotable at this point, it is Ikea after all) before we move and start fresh in our new home. These drawer knobs made my dressers seem newish again 💕
Wicker Baskets for Towel Storage (Photo and idea credit makinglemonadeblog)
I loved this idea to solve my lack of towel storage issue in my bathroom. Such an easy fix and I love the look of rolled towels. I found pretty much the exact same baskets at Home Goods, but you can find some online here – these come with a lid!
Rose Gold Velvet Peel and Stick Wallpaper
Isn’t this gorgeous?! I haven’t quite figured out what to do with it yet, but that’s part of the fun! It seems like it would be best for a bathroom or vanity area…
Another Home Goods find, but I spotted them at Pottery Barn too!
And last but not least, our new dining set! Can you believe we’ve gotten by without a dinner table since we moved in to our house in early 2018?! Well, not anymore.Yayyyyyyyy! This set has rave reviews and it’s very affordable – the chairs alone would likely cost as much as the whole set. And it’s on the smaller side, which we needed. It arrives on Tuesday, during my week off, and I am so excited to get it set up! The grey is currently sold out, but the green is in stock and seems surprisingly neutral/versatile.
Now that I’m working harder on beautifying the house I’m feeling more productive outside of work and less like a couch potato. It feel good! What are y’all doing with your in-the-house free time lately?
XO, Kate
