Hello friends! I have so many great new purchases/ideas I’ve come across or acquired lately that have blown my mind (in a good way) that I figured I’d offer them all up in one post, rather than sharing them as aspects of individual outfit posts – because you know, I lag.
I am now a fan of visors…who knew? I used to scoff at women who wore visors back in the day. They just seemed so unfashionable and I did not really see the point of them. But now that I wear hats more regularly I often have the problem of needing to take my hair down if I want to put my hat on. My hair is pretty much always up in a high bun, so it’s out of the way. But who wants to do that? Enter the visor – all the benefits of a hat, but it also accommodates the bun. AND I discovered they sell one of my favorite straw hats in a visor style! Perfection. BTW a new post featuring the Brixton Joanna visor shown on me in the main pic is coming soon. It’s SO good.
This wireless lace bra (BOGO 50% off right now at Macy’s) is a game changer! That’s a strong phrase I know, but it’s warranted in this case. I have a few dresses that are pretty low cut and my usual bras jut don’t work on their own underneath (example here) with my substantial bust. I have a few slips, but sometimes they don’t quite do the trick either. This uber comfortable bra saved the day! Not only does it provide a bit more coverage for the girls to put under deep V necks, without having to wear a slip or cami, but it actually provides a good amount of support and it’s also the most comfortable lace bra I’ve even worn – and I’ve tried quite a few! I have the white and am planning to purchase the black as well.
While the 2 images above probably seem like they are totally different jeans, they are not. It’s the same pair, but the first pic is in my bathroom and the second is from American Eagle’s website (no longer available, similar option here). It can be so hard to tell what you’ll actually get in the mail when you order from AE because of the variance between the pairs of jeans and the lighting they use for the online pics, but it’s still worth rolling the dice IMO. I LOVE AE’s denim (specifically the jeggings). I have yet to find a better combo of fit, quality, and style for the price – and I know I’m not the only fan as I see people wearing AE’s denim in real life, movies, and on TV all the time. *The design on their back pockets is distinctive and yes I am also just a clothes-loving weirdo lol.

I created these AWESOME cutoffs using the directions in the above link. It has some great tips, so if you haven’t tried this kind of thing and want to, check it out before attempting DIY cutoffs all by yourself. I’ve made a few mistakes in the past and ruined some jeans in the process. Frustrating. I haven’t shopped for jean cutoffs in a long time and when I recently went to check out my options I saw they are surprisingly expensive. Since I have many pairs of denim that sit around because they no longer fit or just aren’t as great as my go-to’s I made good use of one of them by turning it into something I will wear and saved a bundle in the process. Love it!!
This Youtube video is really helpful. It guides you in applying your makeup in ways that are flattering for real people in daylight. So many of the makeup tutorials out there are meant purely for looking a certain way on social media, for the stage, or for high fashion photography. I’ve already changed the way I apply bronzer, blush, and highlighter and have also been wearing a primer because of her reminder of how helpful it is for staying power.
These shoes get so many compliments! But that’s just a bonus, they are soooo comfortable (people rave about that in the reviews) and go with so many looks. I have mentioned them in past posts, but I just spotted them today for under $30! They are also really stable, it’s hard to believe they are as high as they are. Grab them while you can for this low price, they are my favorite shoes at this point. I might just have to get them in black too…
This sprinkler is a great new addition to our backyard. I was lusting after an inflatable pool for several weeks, but I realized I don’t need the cost nor hassle of having to fill it up, keep it clean, store it, and keep it safe from Sal and Scooby so this was a really nice/more practical alternative. I know I’m not the only one who misses running through the sprinklers as a kid.
Macys has a couple seriously discounted MAC makeup brushes right now and I never really see them on sale, so I figured I’d mention it. I had to snap this one up as I need a new foundation bush and the reviews are amazing. I also wanted to buy this one, but I cannot really justify the purchase. I “rediscovered” some makeup brushes that I’d put in to-go makeup pouches that never really get used and am now well stocked in good quality makeup brushes as a result. Yay! I highly recommend at least a good foundation and eyeshadow brush, they can make all the difference.
Who doesn’t love Chocolate Covered Caramel Apples? Yuuuumm! I’ve made them so many ways lately: with Werther’s caramels and a homemade sauce for the nachos (both are pretty darn easy!). And I usually do a mix of Reeces PB chips, Oreos, and/or Tollhouse mini semi-sweet morsels, but man there are so many great options! I used to only get them very occasionally when I happened to be at a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Now they are a mere trip to the store away. Too tempting!
Ok, that’s enough for now. But please let me know if you like this kind of post and I’ll do it more often 🙂
XO, Kate
