My style tends to be pretty classic, and this nautical look is no exception, so I’ll often add visual interest to my outfits through accessories. I found some new ones that really float my boat (get it? oh how I crack myself up), so I wanted to share with y’all!
First off, this hat (similar) was such a great surprise! I actually bought it from DSW when I had an online order that was just a few dollars away from getting free shipping.
I always check the clearance section when that happens and I spotted this little guy for a mere $5 so I figured, why not? When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how cute it was and how well it worked with many of my outfits. Another winner!
There are many names for this style of hat – newsboy cap, cabbie hat, or fisherman hat – and it’s been “in style” for a while now. But no matter what you call it, it can be a little hard to pull off unless it’s styled just right. I found that one needs to adjust how high or low they wear it on the forehead, depending on one’s face shape.
This is the one I’d been planning to buy from Brixton and here’s a fun one reminiscent of Abbi’s yellow hat from Broad City. I say just play around with it and make it your own – as always!
Next up we have a (gasp!) scrunchie bracelet set . While wearing scrunchies in one’s hair has been vilified over the last few decades, I think it’s such a fun twist to wear one stacked with other bracelets or a watch on your wrist – or as separates as I did. Versatility!
I thought the scrunchie part looked nice on my bag since it mimicked the stripes in my dress (only $9.99 and comes in many colors/patterns!) and the bracelet definitely stands on its own. This particular set is already sold out, but you can easily make your own version on the cheap – woot! Here is a slightly different set by the same brand that’s also a good option. INC makes some great stuff for work and beyond.
Here are some options that you can mix and match with bracelets and watches you already have: 1, 2, 3, 4. I also plan on wearing this guy in my hair when I do a topknot; you can find some versions with longer scarf tails.
On a similar note, I haven’t yet bought one of these bracelets (it holds your regular old hair tie!!), but it might just be one of the best inventions ever! It’s definitely on my list to buy one of these days since it looks better than wearing a hair tie on your wrist and keeps it from cutting off your circulation. Always a good thing!
I’m also in love (!!) with this necklace that Leo surprised me with not too long ago. I’d been wanting a zodiac necklace and he actually got me two different kinds! *heart eyes emoji* Sadly we didn’t get any good closeups of it, but it’s true to what’s shown on the website. And here are some other options that are very similar, but likely higher quality.
It’s now officially too hot to layer anymore so I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of my hats and other accessories in my posts to come…what’s your fav accessory?
dress, hat (similar), sweater, necklace, booties (on sale!)
scrunchie bracelet set (similar), bag
Yes, these pics were taken along the side of my house – in case you were wondering. I’ve become quite the gardener since moving in to our new-ish home. Our little plants have really grown since we took these photos 😉
I love you guys so much, thanks for visiting! Have a great day!
XO, Kate
