Sadly you can’t buy this exact trench anymore, but I found some really great similar options (1, 2, 3). Faux suede trenches are having a moment right now, but if you buy a classic version you can wear it pretty much forever. Every woman should have a trench IMO, it comes in handy a lot and just screams sophistication.
For the last 5 years or so I’ve tried to only buy articles of clothing that I feel exceptionally drawn to. No matter how good of a “deal” something appears to be, it’s really only a deal if you find yourself reaching for it over an over. Unless it’s a specific-occasion purchase, of course. I’ve found I (almost) never regret purchases with this approach.
Now that Marie Kondo is everywhere, more and more people seem to be getting on board with this idea. This trench is a perfect example. I was walking out of H&M after buying these snakeskin pants, which I’ve had on my “wishlist” for quite a while, and spotted this trench hanging on a rack. I immediately knew it might just be amazing. I tried it on and confirmed it was indeed the bees knees. Even the ladies who happened to be near me when I tried it on agreed!
Even though I think this trench is worth the full price of $60 as it’s such a classic, I didn’t feel like dropping that much cash on a impulse buy. So I added it to my Shoptagr list and pretty much put it out of my mind. When I got a coupon in the mail from H&M for 20% off and free shipping I decided to pull the trigger.
I’m SO glad I did because I just checked and this trench is now totally sold out. I would have been really sad if I missed my window! When fast fashion pieces go on sale they go fast, so it’s often all about the timing. Since most people aren’t perpetually poised to click “checkout now,” only buying things that spark joy in you can be such a great rule of thumb to end up with a closet full of clothes you actually want to wear.
I say just give it at least one good night’s sleep and if you’re still thinking about it then buy it!
I just love the buttery soft feel of this piece, the stretch, and how it drapes. I considered belting it to show a few more ways to wear it, but more often than not in “real” life I’ll just tie the back so the belt is out of the way and so it pulls some of the fabric in to give a more flattering shape.
Plus I wanted people to be able to see my super cute red dress. I almost went with a different dress because I still associate this color combo with Target – do NOT wear red and khaki/sand together when shopping at Target or you WILL be treated as if you’re an employee. Lol!
It’s actually the same dress as this one from my post in 2017. It’s so good of course I had to by it in a different color. Red makes such a statement. P.S. stay tuned for an upcoming post on colors and emotions!
Unfortunately you can’t get this exact dress right now, but you can get a higher end version (Reformation’s Mary dress) that has even more flattering straps, a slightly shorter version in teal, and this one at an even lower price point (FYI the reviews suggest it’s pretty thin).
These shoes are another example of how I like to buy in multiples – I also have them in almond. I can’t get enough of these heels as they offer wide sizes, the price is right, and most of all I can walk ALL DAY in them! I might just have to get the striped ones too at some point…
Thank you so much for visiting, have a blissfully wonderful day!
XO, Kate
